RDRRMC XII Disaster Preparedness Committee Approves Nine Key Resolutions during the CY 2025 2nd Quarter Meeting

The DILG XII as the Vice Chairperson of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) XII – Disaster Preparedness Committee convened its 2nd Quarter Meeting for CY 2025 on June 10, 2025, at the DILG XII Regional Office in Koronadal City. Eighteen member agencies attended the meeting.

DILG XII Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero, CESE, Vice Chairperson of the Disaster Preparedness Committee, officially opened the meeting. She delivered a message underscoring the importance of disaster preparedness, quoting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s speech during the signing of the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA) last December 30, 2024, to which he stated:

“Through this budget, we will also prioritize green investments and disaster preparedness to safeguard our environment and ensure resilience against disasters.”

He further added: “To sustain these efforts, we are advancing governance reforms. We shall continue to improve our systems for a more efficient, transparent, and accountable government.”

The meeting was attended by 18 member agencies and discussed weather outlook from DOST-PAGASA from July to October 2025, along with updates from various partners on ongoing preparedness efforts. These discussions led to the adoption of nine (9) resolutions focused on key issues on improving local weather monitoring and public health emergency response, climate risk assessments, informal settler validation currently implemented by DHSUD, disaster awareness activities/events, and the celebration of National Resilience Month CY 2025.

In closing, Atty. Mahinay-Sero thanked the committee members for their active participation and called for continued collaboration, innovation, and action to keep communities safe. “Preparedness starts with knowledge,” she said. “Ligtas ang may alam.”

These resolutions will now be endorsed to the RDRRMC XII Full Council for final adoption, paving the way for stronger disaster readiness efforts across the region.”
