On August 9 to 11, 2017, the national priority thrusts and international commitments of the Philippine Government were presented to the Provincial and City Development Council- Executive Committee (P/CDC- ExeCom) members of Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Cotabato Province, South Cotabato and cities of General Santos and Cotabato during the Regional Workshop on National/ Regional Strategic Priorities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Alignment held at Sun City Suites, General Santos City.
In collaboration with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)12, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 12, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) 12, and Police Regional Office (PRO) 12, series of valuable inputs on Philippine Development Plan 2017- 2022 as anchored on Ambisyon Natin 2040, National Security Plan 2015- 2022, SDGs anchored on Agenda 2030, and Sendai Framework for Disaster Reduction 2015- 2030 were discussed accordingly for the complementation and harmonization of local development plans with the national thrusts and strategic priorities.
DILG 12 Regional Director Reynaldo M. Bungubung, CESO IV graced the activity and encouraged all participants as key actors in local governance to be “informed of the national directions and be able to align their respective development plans and investment programs to that of the national level”.
Through the oversight function of the provincial government over its component LGUs, the 3- Day Regional Workshop successfully enabled the PDC- ExeCom members to review their Provincial Development Investment Program (PDIP) in light with the so- called “Global Goals” of SDGs as locally reflected in the NEDA SDG Implementation Roadmap and national government priorities. Consequently, participants were made ready to present their provincial strategic directions for the subsequent alignment of Local Development Investment Programs (LDIPs) of constituent cities and municipalities which will be done in the follow- through activity of provincial strategic direction conference workshops.
