The 1002nd Infantry (Bagwis) Brigade of the Philippine Army commemorated its 18th activation anniversary on August 22, 2024, at Camp Agaab, Barangay Malandag, Malungon, Sarangani Province. Distinguished guests, including representatives from the congressional office, local government units, national government agencies, and private institutions, gathered to celebrate the milestone.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Patricio Ruben P Amata, warmly welcomed all attendees and guests. Major General Potenciano C. Camba, Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army, graced the event as the guest of honor and keynote speaker together with MGen Allan D. Hambala, commander of the 10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.
Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay Sero, Regional Director of DILG 12, was presented with a plaque of recognition for the department’s pivotal role in implementing programs under the Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) initiative. These efforts have contributed significantly to the transformation of former conflict-affected communities within the Brigade's jurisdiction in Region 12. Atty. Sero was represented by Chief of Staff, LGOO V Jon Leo J. Licayan, CPA.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the blessing of the Brigade’s new water purification and refilling facility and peace hall. These facilities symbolize the Brigade's ongoing commitment to improving the well-being of soldiers and communities, furthering the collective efforts for peace and development in the region.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the partnership between the Philippine Army and other stakeholders in promoting lasting peace, security, and progress in Mindanao.
