The activity served as the opening number for the NWMC event on March 21 with the introduction of additional, newly discovered singing talents from the regional office. Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) Chief Musarapha A. Alim, delivered the message from Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III which calls for women “to appreciate each other’s worth, and to be aligned, inspired by, and collaborate for the good of all.”
The Day’s feature story spotlighted on a daring Juana entrepreneur who ventured into cosmetics and fashion despite her age and other odds stacked against her. The inspiring story of Ms. Shammah Jane H. Yabut, the acclaimed young business owner of Coco’s Makeover, became part of the Serye Sa Dose: Featuring Amazing Juana. She spoke of her business journey which started from scratch to where she is now: with more clients, better services and additional branches in the region.
She encouraged other Juanas to “believe their instinct when faced with difficult decision-making situations and to keep the faith in the Lord above all else.” Ms. Yabut’s colorful journey to fame and abundance was followed by a short lecture on the Safe Spaces Act of 2019, with no less than the equally young OIC Regional Director Atty. Keysie M. Gomez of CHD XII, and the Chairperson of the Regional GAD Resource Pool of RGADC XII.
Atty. Gomez gave valuable insight on RA 11313, also known as the Bawal Bastos Law or the Safe Spaces Act of 2019. She first presented a primer on the various laws before the Safe Spaces Act which defended women’s rights. Later in her message, she enjoined the Juans and Juanas in attendance to appreciate the updated safeguards provided by the Safe Spaces Act.
Before the program ended, RD Leysa extended her virtual greetings to the participants. She shared inspiring short stories about resiliency, courage and hope amidst the pandemic.
Finally, the activity was closed with a dreamy and hopeful tune “Dadalhin”, popularized by Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, as rendered by the Singing Juanas of DILG Dose.
