The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XII are now in talks with the local government unit of Tantangan, South Cotabato for the turn-over of the public market project funded by DILG.
Located in the town’s Barangay Poblacion, the public market features a well-ventilated two-storey building, with two stalls each for meat and fish products in the ground floor and 12 more stalls in the upper floor.
DILG XII is set to conduct a project assessment this January 2021 together with the Regional and Provincial Project Monitoring Committees prior the turn-over, DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III said during a Coordination Meeting attended by Tantangan town mayor Benjamin Figueroa Jr, DILG-South Cotabato Provincial Director Atty. Rochelle Mahinay-Sero, and DPWH XII representatives last December 28.
DILG XII Project Development Management Unit (PDMU) said, the project was funded through the 2019 Public Market/Public Cemetery (PM/PC) Project under the Office of the Secretary of the DILG worth Php 20 million. DPWH serves as DILG’s implementing partner
Meanwhile, three more public market projects funded under the 2019 PM/PC were completed in Region XII this year, PDMU confirmed. The projects are located in President Roxas in Cotabato Province, Polomolok and Sto. Niño in South Cotabato.
Region XII received a total of Php 102 million for the said projects including the on-going public market projects in Magpet, Cotabato Province and Koronadal City, South Cotabato; and public cemetery projects in Tulunan, Cotabato Province and Malungon, Sarangani Province.
