To sustain the quality and smoothness in the preparation and implementation of the projects, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office XII, through the Project Development Management Unit (PDMU) recently conducted a Coordination Meeting together with DPWH District Engineer and eight (8) LGUs in the Region. Among the eight (8) LGUs, the Municipality in Tulunan in Cotabato Province and Malungon in Sarangani are recipients of a Public Cemetery, and six (6) LGUs are the recipients of Public Markets. These LGUs are Pres. Roxas and Magpet, Cotabato Province, Polomolok, Sto. Niño, Tantangan and the City of Koronadal in South Cotabato.
The coordination meeting was convened by the PDMU and presided over by Engr. Herminia S. Ontoy. In the said meeting, she discussed the content of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) which includes the delineation of work, roles and responsibility of DILG and DPWH. LGUs, on the other hand, were enlightened on the processes and procedures.
DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III, graced the meeting with her presence and delivered her inspirational message to the LGUs and DPWH Engineers. Director Cabrido-Leysa, reiterated how the project proposals that seem to come out of nowhere suddenly becomes a reality. In fact, she said, these projects are culled-out from the Local Development Investment Plan (LDIP) of the municipality.
She encouraged attendees to be persistent: “Do not get tired of proposing, and do not get tired of submitting your LDIP even for other agencies, because you will never know when the funds come.” Additionally, she said “that the P102-Million worth of projects should be constructed in accordance with the standards so that it will become a legacy to those who do the hands-on in the proposal of the projects.”
