The Department of the Interior and Local Government XII, under the leadership of Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO V, spearheaded the capacity-building activity for the twelve (12) pilot LGUs, namely; Banisilan, Libungan, Midsayap, President Roxas, Koronadal City, Surallah, Tantangan, Columbio, Esperanza, Isulan, Kalamansig, and Lutayan on the Formulation of the Enhanced Local Climate Change Action Plan (E-LCCAP) on July 8-10, 2019 at FB Hotel, City of Koronadal.
In her Opening Message, Maria Theresa D. Bautista, OIC Chief of LGCDD underscored the roles of the LGUs in planning and implementing climate change adaptation and mitigation activities towards building resilient communities.
The participants who were composed of the C/MPDCs, C/MENROS, C/MDRRMOs, Agriculturists, and C/MLGOOs are expected to be the DRRM-CCA Champions in the LCCAP Core Teams. They were trained on the Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) and Greenhouse Gases inventory and accounting (GHGi) tools. Senior Geologist Ariel Austin A. Acosta of DENR-MGB and Engr. Kristeen Kreem D. Tan of DENR-EMB lectured the tools, respectively.
The second part of the training is slated in September to allow the pilot LGUs to finish their CDRA Outputs and GHGi reports before proceeding to the planning and prioritizing steps of the ELCCAP process.
