DILG XII recently held a warm welcome ceremony for its new regional director Josephine C. Leysa, CESO V, at the The Farm, Carpenter Hill in Koronadal City.

The said event was witnessed by representatives from the DILG Central Office led by Undersecretary for Local Government Marivel C. Sacendoncillo, who officiated the installation ceremony together with Assistant Secretary for Administration and Finance Ester A. Aldana, CESO II.

Also in attendance were Bureau of Local Government Supervision (BLGS) Director Atty. Odilon L. Pasaraba, CESO V, National Barangay Operations Office (NBOO) Bureau Director Karl Caesar R. Rimando, CESO V and Public Affairs and Communication Service (PACS) Director Marlo S. Guanzon.

As she accepted the new responsibility, Director Leysa shared a vivid recollection of her journey at the Department, highlighting the training and exposure that eventually helped shape and prepare her for bigger responsibilities as the head executive assistant to the secretary of the Department, starting with the then Secretary Ismael D. Sueno, OIC- Secretary Catalino S. Cuy and the current Secretary Eduardo M. Año.

She also expressed gratitude to those whom she considered to have had major influence in her life at DILG which included former DILG regional directors Quirino Libunao, CESO III, Buagas B. Sulaik, CESO III and Reynaldo M. Bungubung, CESO IV.

In her speech, Director Leysa challenged the regional office staff who were present at the installation rites along with her family, that ‘ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things through teamwork’. The message also laid down the priorities for the regional office which is towards setting appropriate career paths for all personnel, among many other equally important policy directions. 

In her perspective, performance means people and the way to excellence means looking out for the welfare and career of each DILG XII personnel.        

All DILG XII key officials headed by Assistant Regional Director Lailyn A. Ortiz, CESE who were also present, threw their support to the new Regional Director.

Other guests who graced the event were Regional Management Coordinating Council (RMCC) members, NAPOLCOM XII Director Veronica C. Hatague, BFP XII Regional Director C/Supt. Louie S. Puracan, PRO XII Deputy Director for Administration PC/Supt. Ulysses C. Caton and BJMP XII Regional Director JS/Supt. Isabelo V. Cartin as well as the DILG XII COA resident Auditor Rosalina S. Batoctoy, CPA.
