The Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) is implemented by the Department (DILG) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) in partnership with the United Nations Development Projects (UNDP) and the PLGUs. This project aims to address underinvestment in local roads, to increase the access of the rural population to services and economic opportunities, to improve road safety of provincial roads and to reduce travel cost and time by improving local road information management, public financial management, and procurement.
To support the objectives of the project, DILG XII, thru the PDMU recently conducted a two-day follow-through activity on Local Road Mapping using the UMP of NAMRIA in four (4) batches, for the LGUs of Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato and Sarangani Province respectively. Batch 1 & 2 was conducted at Koronadal City while the Batch 3 & 4 was conducted at General Santos City. The activity is required to complete the GIS Local Road Network Map of the four (4) Provinces in Region 12.
Regional Director Reynaldo M. Bungubung, represented by Maria Theresa Bautista, LGCDD Chief, read the RD’s welcome message for the activity. Engr. Herminia S. Ontoy, PDMU Chief discussed the overview and objectives of the activity and emphasized that the output (Local Road Network Map) of the activity shall be the basis for the 2020 CMGP allocation and is one of the requirements for the governance reform on local road information management.
Mr. Clyde B. Malicay, Information Analyst II is the Resource Speaker for the Batch 1 & 2 activity while for the Batch 3 & 4 is Mr. Nikko Baessa, Information Analyst III, both were from DILG OPDS PMO.
The activity was attended by seventeen (17) LGUs from Cotabato Province, thirteen (13) LGUs from Sultan Kudarat, eleven (11) from South Cotabato and eight (8) from Sarangani Province.
