The RIATF-EID XII, which has approved the resolution concurring the implementation of zoning containment strategy or localized lockdown in selected areas of the municipalities of Alabel in Sarangani Province, Midsayap in Cotabato Province and Tupi in South Cotabato due to the reported cases of contamination in the said areas, has announced that the localized lockdown in Alabel, Sarangani Province started on September 3 and will formally end on the 17th. It covers the following areas:

The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (RIATF-EID XII) has concurred to the requests made by certain LGUs to implement zoning containment strategies in certain areas with Covid 19 cases.

This was confirmed by DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III, based on RIATF Resolution 2020-29-B dated September 9, 2020. Around four (4) LGUs in Region XII had to be placed under lockdown due to recorded new cases of Covid 19 infection.

In a bid to increase its surveillance capacity for Covid 19, the Department of the Interior and Local Government XII has started with the recruitment process of contact tracers as the Region battles the most recent spike in infections due to confirmed local transmission.

In a radio interview on Tuesday, Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III called on applicants who meet the minimum qualification standard such as having a Bachelor’s Degree relevant to the job, with preferred experience  on any of the following:

“NOT one punong barangay from Region XII made to the dreaded list of barangay officials who had been placed on a six-month preventive suspension by the Office of the Ombudsman”.

This was confirmed over the weekend by RD Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO III as she thanked all the field personnel and local officials about the latest “achievement” for the Region.

In a press release, DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Ano released the names of 89 punong barangays from all over the country who were suspended following the filing of complaints by the Department “for anomalies and irregularities involving the implementation of the first tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).”
