Attendees to the regular RGADC XII Virtual Café, Café Juana doing the Serye sa Dose web talk were treated to not just one but two lady Regional Directors who shared their life stories as part of the celebration of the National Women’s Month on March 15, 2021 via the Zoom and Facebook live platform.
Both the lady RDs were the inspirational speakers who imparted their colorful career journey as they served their community in various capacities.
Dir. Josephine Cabrido- Leysa, CESO III, RGADC XII Chairperson welcomed Director Teresita Socorro C. Ramos, Regional Director of National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) XII and Regional Director Minda Morante of Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) XII who both shared inspiring stories about how they managed to make it on top the career ladder, in a world where men dominate.
Dir. Ramos looked back in her past and identified her mother as the main motivator which greatly influenced her to love public service while staying true to her calling as a mother.
She pinpointed to all the attendees, which include all the RGADC members and DILG personnel via Zoom, that both her role as a mother and as a regional director had been driven by her love to serve others. Through all her problems and difficulties in her journey as a Director and a Career Service Executive Officer (CESO), her mother’s teachings and faith in God carried her through.
Meanwhile, Dir. Morante, urged everyone to give honor to women front liners, including entrepreneurs, mothers, and the elderly doing intensive domestic work, even the other ladies and young girls who are still adjusting to the new normal through online classes and similar means.
Dir. Morante also assured everyone that even during a pandemic, the Agency “shall ensure that the DRR-CCA measures are gender responsive, sensitive to indigenous knowledge system and respectful to human rights”. She also added that OCD XII remains committed “to develop and strengthen the capacities of Vulnerable and Marginalized groups to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the effects of disaster (as stipulated in Republic Act No. 10121).
