PDMU Trains Local Project Monitoring Committees in Region XII on Engineering for Non-Engineers

The Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) successfully wrapped up the second batch of "Engineering for Non-Engineers" (EFNE) training for Local Project Monitoring Committees (LPMCs) from selected Local Government Units (LGUs) in Region XII, held from September 26-27, 2024, in General Santos City.

The training significantly enhanced the capacity of LPMC members to effectively monitor local infrastructure projects. By equipping participants with essential engineering principles, the program trained them to identify issues, ensure contractor compliance, and maintain project quality. Armed with a deeper understanding of project execution processes, participants are now equipped to oversee infrastructure projects in their respective areas.

One significant outcome of the training was the participants' increased capability in utilizing the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) forms, vital for tracking project progress, ensuring transparency, and reinforcing accountability. The training also honed their ability to tackle challenges such as delayed payments, inferior materials, and subcontractor management.

The hands-on project inspection on the second day further reinforced their learning as participants observed real-world project implementation, provided feedback, and engaged directly with contractors and engineers. This practical experience solidified the participants' ability to apply their new knowledge to real-time project monitoring, paving the way for better infrastructure outcomes across Region XII.
