Koronadal City, South Cotabato — The two-day event entitled, "Strengthening Civil Society Organization Desk Officer (CSO-DO) Regional Rollout for Rehiyon Dose," concluded successfully at Greenstate Suites, May 30-31, 2024.
This initiative, funded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) through the Support to Local Governance Program, was managed by the DILG Rehiyon Dose – Local Governance Capability Development Division (LGCDD). The primary goal of the event was to enhance the skills and capabilities of CSO Desk Officers across every municipality within the region, ensuring they are better equipped to serve their communities.
The DILG's mandate, in line with Section 6.15 of DILG MC 2021-054, focuses on empowering LGU-designated CSO Desk Officers who are pivotal in addressing CSO-related matters. This regional rollout, conducted in collaboration with the Support for Local Governance Program-Project-Management Office (SLGP-PMO) and the Local Government Capacity Development Division (LGCDD), aimed to fortify this mandate.
DILG XII OIC-Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero, CESE, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the crucial role of CSOs in community development and good governance. Representatives from all Local Government Units (LGUs) of Rehiyon Dose attended, focusing on equipping CSO Desk Officers with essential skills and knowledge to better serve their communities.
Key speakers included Mr. Carlito Y. Uy, Independent Trustee of the Coalition of Society Development Office; Engr. Mary Ann Traspe, Assistant Division Chief of LGCDD; Tacurong City CLGOO Atty Ryan J. Alair, LGOO III Kimberly Tuanzon; ADAS VI Jade Jandoc; and Development Management Officer (DMO III) Ana Louwel V. Cabrido. Their expertise provided participants with comprehensive guidance on their roles and responsibilities.
Engr. Traspe expressed appreciation for the active participation and commitment of the attendees, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration between CSOs and LGUs to achieve sustainable development goals and improve public service delivery.
