One of the landmark laws of the Duterte Administration which gives priority to improving competitiveness and ease of doing business in the Philippines is the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018 (RA 11032). This Act aims to streamline the current systems and procedures of government services.
As a way of providing assistance to pilot LGUs in SOCCSKSARGEN while ensuring compliance to the said Act, the Department of the Interior and Local Government XII, together with the Local Government Academy, conducted and facilitated the three-day Capacity Enhancement Regulatory Simplification for Local Governments (RS4LG) with the theme “A Journey Towards Ease of Doing Business: We S implify. We Comply”, held on September 4-6, 2019 at the FB Hotel in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
DILG XII Regional Director Josephine Cabrido-Leysa, CESO V graced the event and delivered her message of thanks and encouragement to the stakeholders who play various roles in the campaign to ease the process in securing permits. “Your presence is a strong signal that we are all in this together: to deal with the discouragingly slow pace of processing business-related documents”, RD Leysa stressed during her message.
Local Government Academy (LGA) Consultant Marieta Patag comprehensively discussed the vital extent, depth and scope of RS4LG while Ms. Geraldine A. Zamora, BPLO-General Santos City, shared the City’s Best Practice in terms of EODB Implementation.
A total of 51 participants, composed of DILG EODB Regional/Provincial and City Focal Persons, City/Municipal Administrators, BPLOs, Treasurers and Sanggunian Secretaries from the cities of Kidapawan, Tacurong and Koronadal and municipalities of Isulan, Surallah, Polomolok, Maasim, Malungon, Midsayap and Kabacan, attended the said training.
“In the light of these, I believe it is right thing to do for Local Officials to think like businessmen to make government work better in the 21st century… So start thinking like businessmen!” RD Leysa said in her closing statement.
