Region XII hosted a Regional Decentralization Conference to discuss reforms to the Local Government Code of 1991 (LGC).  This landmark event  gathered the academe, civil society organizations (CSOs), DILG XII officials, local leaders, and policy makers to propose amendments aimed at improving governance, fiscal autonomy, and service deliver at the local level.

The Barangay Information Officers Network (BION) held its annual assembly last November 14, 2024 at The Farm, Carpenter Hill, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato, bringing together over 500 Barangay Information Officers (BIOs) from across the region.

 

The assembly, hosted by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) XII led by Dir. Fryan E. Abkilan, aims to empower all BIOs with the tools and knowledge necessary to address local challenges, disseminate accurate information, and foster a more engaged and informed public.

From October 15-17, 2024, national validators conducted the SubayBayan Awards validation process in Region XII, visiting the Municipality of Magpet in Cotabato and the Municipality of Kiamba in Sarangani, both competing under the Municipality Category, as well as the City of Koronadal in South Cotabato, representing the City Category. This validation was essential for assessing the performance of these local government units (LGUs) in key areas critical to effective project implementation and management.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office XII (DILG XII) demonstrated its commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment through its participation in the Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP) Assessment, held on October 11, 2024, at the DILG Regional Office in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
