The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII showcased the Barangays of Centrala, Surallah, South Cotabato and Daguma, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat for the CY 2018 1st Semester Barangay Assembly Day held on March 31, 2018.
The assembly meeting of Centrala was conducted in the morning, while Daguma was in the afternoon. Both assemblies were graced by DILG XII Regional Director Reynaldo M. Bungubung, CESO IV. He read the message of the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 2018-31.
CENTRALA: The assembly started at 9:30AM, and was participated in by around 1,000 constituents. It was attended by DILG XII Assistant Regional Director Lailyn A. Ortiz, CESE; LGMED Chief Musarapha A. Alim, MPA; MLGOO Esther Macadaan; Ms. Tedera of COMELEC; and representatives from the PNP and BFP.
With the theme “Kapit-Kamay tungo sa Pagbabago ng Barangay! Makialam! Makilahok! Makiisa!, they discussed their barangay compliance on national laws and other related issuances such as the Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 3, S. 2017 among others. RD Bungubung emphasized the DILG’s voters education campaign of “Matino, Mahusay, at Maaasahang” Barangay and SK Officials for the upcoming Barangay and SK Elections.
Punong Barangay Serafin Ellaga, in his State of the Barangay Address (SOBA), reported the accomplishments of the council as well as their financial status from October 2017 to March 2018, highlighting its good Financial Management System.
DAGUMA: The assembly was conducted in the afternoon with around 1,500 attendees which represented 95% of its households. It was graced by Hon. Mayor Jonalette de Pedro and other DILG XII personnel of Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat. In her message, Mayor De Pedro encouraged everyone to attend the Barangay Assembly every March and October of each year for them to know the accomplishments of the Barangay and for them to participate in planning and monitoring of the projects and activities being implemented by their barangay leaders.
Punong Barangay Merilo C. Cordero was greatly honoured to be chosen as one of the showcase barangays of Region XII. He thanked his constituents for their support and maintaining the peace and order of the barangay. He then enunciated the accomplishments, plans and future undertakings of the Council.
The message of the SILG on the other hand, which was read by RD Bungubung focused on the strategies to fight against illegal drugs particularly the Dangerous Drug Board Regulation No. 3, S. 2017. He emphasized to report through Hotline 8888 any incident involving corruption, illegal drug activities, criminality and violent extremism.
Following the DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2018-31 dated March 15, 2018, as well as the Memorandum and Advocacy Materials issued on the conduct of Barangay Assembly Day, the activity was successfully conducted.
