This month of October, during Mondays and Fridays of each week, we will be posting a series of articles/write-ups for you to get to know more about the PLEB using the #PLEBserye.

The People’s Law Enforcement Board or PLEB is a quasi-judicial body which was designed to be the ‘check and balance mechanism’ for our policemen. It involves the active participation of the community and the individual citizen in instilling discipline in the ranks of the police officers, or providing rewards and incentives for their exceptional performance.

There is a concertedeffort to strengthen PLEBs in order to empower citizens,in the light of the unfolding events and recent developments in the country: police officers who are being tagged or exposed as persons allegedly behind some illegal activities. President Rodrigo RoaDuterte emphasized that while he supports the police, he will not tolerate graft and corruption and abuses. Ang PLEB angmagsisisilbingtagapagbantay o tagapag-tanggol ng mgamamamayanlabansamgaabusadongpulis.

The PLEB plays a crucial role in weeding out police scalawags and helping good cops remain true to their calling: ‘to protect and serve’. The Department deems it necessary to increase public understanding and awareness about the PLEB Program and to encourage citizens to file their complaintsagainst erringuniformed PNP personnel.

This initiative is part of our Advocacy Campaign to strengthen PLEBs. May this empower the Filipino People and they continue to put their trust and confidence in the hands of our law enforcement agencies. Sa PLEB, may boses tayo laban sa mga tiwaling pulis.
