On November 14-15, 2018, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office XII conducted the Retooling of Regional Office Personnel and Field Officers at Paraiso Verde Hotel & Resort, Koronadal City Cotabato.

The activity was spearheaded by Regional Director Reynaldo M. Bungubung, CESO IV and Assistant Regional Director Lailyn A. Ortiz, CESE.  The participants were the Divisions Chiefs, Assistant Division Chiefs, Provincial and City Directors, Municipal and City Local Government Operation Officers (C/MLGOO), and all the Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) V and VI in Region XII.

On the first day of the activity, plenary sessions one and two which is about the Basic Concept of Federalism and its Fiscal Considerations were discussed by Atty. Cyrus E. Torreña- Member of DILG Speakers’ Bureau, and Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay- Sero- Provincial Director of DILG Sarangani Province, respectively. In the afternoon, DILG- National Barangay Operations Office OIC Director Karl Ceasar R. Rimando, CESO V discussed the Recent Updates and Developments Concerning Barangay Operations and its corresponding Legal Issues, while Atty. Rose Shayne T. Duazo- Assistant Division Chief of DILG Central Office Legal Research, Assistance and Legislative Liaison Division discussed the Recent Legal Opinions Issued by the DILG.

For the plenary sessions on the second day, COMELEC South Cotabato Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Jay P. Gerada discussed Election Laws, while Atty. Raul Anton U. Malifer, DILG XII Bantay Korapsyon Team Legal Officer discussed Anti- Corruption Laws.  Capping the retooling activity is the plenary session on the General Principles and Salient Features of Data Privacy Act of 2012 which was discussed by National Privacy Commission Information Technology Officer III Cleo R. Martinez.

-The primary objective of the said activity is to capacitate all LGOOs in the Region by ensuring that their knowledge stay relevant and up to date, thus enhancing their capability to make meaningful contributions to LGUs in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
