The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region XII (DILG Dose) formally turned over 32 solar-powered streetlights to the City Local Government Unit of Koronadal, South Cotabato on January 21, 2025. The streetlights were installed in Barangays Zone 1, Zone 2, and GPS along Alunan Avenue. This initiative was funded under the FY 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance - Incentive Fund (SGLG-IF), showcasing the government's commitment to fostering safer and well-lit communities.
The installation of the streetlights underscores the national government’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and improve the quality of life for Filipinos. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., in his 2023 State of the Nation Address (SONA), emphasized the importance of prioritizing infrastructure that directly benefits local communities.
DILG South Cotabato Provincial Director Hayd-Ali S. Suwaib delivered the message of DILG Regional Director Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero, CESE during the event.
City Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogena graced the turnover activity and said that these 32 solar-powered streetlights are just the beginning of the many light projects. “We are achieving our objective, actually. Ngaa ginatutukan naton ang barangay-purok-sitio empowerment program kay gusto naton i-fast track ang progress and development,” he added.
This project is a testament to the shared vision of the national and local governments to deliver impactful and community-centered projects, reinforcing the commitment to a brighter and safer Philippines.
