The Department of the Interior and Local Government, in partnership with the local government of General Santos joined 73 local government units across the country in the landmark lighting, to celebrate ASEAN’s 50th Anniversary on August 8, 2017. The event is a symbolic expression of the ASEAN 50 theme, “Under One Light, We Are One ASEAN”.

DILG XII ARD Lailyn Ortiz, Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera, Vice Mayor Shirlyn Bañas-Nograles, Councilor Jose Edmar Yumang, Councilor Rosalita Nuñez, Councilor Jose Orlando Acharon, DILG City Dir. Atty. Rochelle M. Sero and other dignitaries lead the Lighting of the ASEAN LANDMARK.

Department heads, assistant department heads, employees of the city government, barangay officials, national agencies and other private sectors were also present during the activity to show a genuine support to the Philippine government’s advocacy to promote unity with and among member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and its global partners.
