27TH WEEK BARKADA CLEAN-UP DRIVE: BAYANIHAN SPIRIT IGNITES IN BARANGAY TUYAN, MALAPATAN TOWARDS CLEANER COMMUNITY

In support of the government’s thrust in the Kalinisan sa Bagong Pilipinas Program, the Barangay Kalinisan Day (BarKaDa) continued to gain momentum, showcasing Barangay Tuyan, Malapatan, Sarangani during the 27th week of the clean-up drive.

Led by Punong Barangay Hon. Ritchel Rabor, a short program was conducted at the Community Fish Landing Center in Purok Magkaisa, Barangay Tuyan, Malapatan. In his speech, he expressed the barangay’s support and commitment to all environmental endeavors, particularly the Kalinisan Programs.

MLGOO Florence Abelarde provided the rationale for the activity, while Sangguniang Barangay Member Honorable Mohammad Amer Harid encouraged residents to continue their efforts in maintaining the cleanliness of their barangay.

At the end of the short program, the participants’ recitation of the Pledge of Commitment affirmed their dedication to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for everyone.

A total of 200 participants, comprising elected and appointed Barangay and Purok Officials, Barangay employees, LGU employees, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office employees, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, Maritime personnel, 4Ps beneficiaries, and barangay residents, enthusiastically joined the activity. The clean-up extended to all the Puroks, particularly to the coastline where discarded waste and pollutants had washed up from the strong rains at the nearby river mouths.

The activity collected an impressive 2,850 kilos of waste, which was then properly disposed of through MENRO Malapatan. The renowned sense of Bayanihan and the remarkably clean, debris-free site indicate another successful effort of the BarKaDa program to enhance the nation's environment.
